Power of Attorney – Refund of Fees
If you applied to register your Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017, you will be entitled to apply for a refund of part of the registration fee you paid to the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) from 1 February 2018.
During this time, the operating costs of the OPG were reduced and as they are not permitted to make a profit from the fees, they are now operating a refund scheme for those who paid the higher fee during the qualifying period.
If you paid the current fee of £82 for each registered document; the fee that applied from 1 April 2017, you will not be entitled to the refund. Otherwise, you can apply online for your refund, which will range from £34 – £54 (depending on which fee you paid) plus 0.5% interest. If you paid a reduced fee for your application, you will get half the refund.
