Hodge Jones & Allen Proud To Be Partnering With Anglia Ruskin University’s Law Clinic
From 1st July 2023, Hodge Jones & Allen will be working alongside law students volunteering at Anglia Ruskin University’s (ARU) busy Law Clinic.
The clinic was set up in 2018 to provide help to people, in East Anglia and further afield, to gain access to free legal advice on family and employment law matters to people who might otherwise not have access to it.
Daniel Denton, Partner at Hodge Jones & Allen and a specialist in personal injury law will work with law student volunteers to deal with personal injury enquiries via a zoom call to provide a fast response and an opportunity for callers to speak directly to a highly experienced personal injury solicitor.
The clinics are run by Sarah Calder, Law Clinic Director who is passionate about pro bono legal work as she has seen the benefits it can bring to local communities over many years. Sarah has experience of running various clinics across the East of England.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Hodge Jones & Allen who have a long history of successfully helping those who have suffered a personal injury, as a result of someone else’s negligence. Our law students will gain so much from working alongside Daniel as they experience real life situations and help individuals through what can be a challenging and sometimes life changing time in their life.”
Helen Proctor, Student at ARU Law Clinic:
“I joined the ARU Law Clinic in the first year of my undergraduate law degree, and have continued working at the clinic through to my LPC. The Law Clinic has allowed me to work on real life cases and see the huge difference 30-minutes of free legal advice can make to clients. This opportunity has allowed me to not only improve my confidence in speaking to clients, but also to obtain the practical skills necessary for a successful career in the legal profession such as interviewing clients and drafting advice notes. It has also been a fantastic opportunity to network with practising lawyers and build connections in the legal field as well as to see the different styles adopted by lawyers when advising different clients.”
The ARU Law Clinic can be accessed online, by telephone or email and they offer a free 30 minute session of free independent and confidential legal advice and their students gain invaluable experience, in preparation for their law careers.
In the last twelve months, the team have helped over 750 clients and they also provide support at court sessions at the Cambridge County Court. The service has been recognised on a number of occasions by LawWorks and the Cambridgeshire Law Society for excellence in the pro bono services provided.
Daniel Denton has represented personal injury claimants for over 20 years and has built a wealth of experience in handling cases including where clients have suffered injuries from a road traffic crash, an accident at work or in a public place. Sometimes injuries sustained can be life-changing and Daniel is skilled at arranging effective rehabilitation treatments and care to get peoples’ lives back on track.
Daniel Denton, Partner & Personal Injury Solicitor: “It is a privilege for me and the personal injury team at Hodge Jones & Allen to assist one of the busiest law centres in the country and work alongside law students who are committed to helping people understand their legal rights”
