Hodge Jones & Allen And Bloomsbury Institute Partner To Launch Personal Injury Clinic For Local Community
Hodge Jones & Allen Solicitors and Bloomsbury Institute have kick-started an exciting new collaboration that will see the launch of a free Personal Injury Law Clinic aimed at serving the local community while providing valuable practical experience for law students.
The Clinic will benefit from the expertise of Daniel Denton, Personal Injury Partner at Hodge Jones & Allen, and will provide free legal advice and assistance to members of the public who are otherwise unable to access justice, whilst giving students key development opportunities. Clients can receive free advice via Teams or telephone.
Daniel Denton has over two decades of experience in representing clients with significant and often life-changing injuries. Daniel will lead and support Bloomsbury Institute students in gaining experience in the area of personal injury law. The initiative will enhance the employability of students, exposing them to real-life cases whilst having a significant positive impact on the local community by supporting individuals in need.
Bloomsbury Institute is a specialised higher education provider located in the Bloomsbury area of London, England. The Institute provides undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in law, business management, and accounting. The Institute has a partnership with Birkbeck, University of London through which all teaching takes place on the Birkbeck campus and provides students with access to Birkbeck’s impressive library.
This innovative partnership between Bloomsbury Institute and Hodge Jones & Allen underscores their combined commitment to social justice and education, and represents a significant step forward in bridging the gap between legal education and practical application, preparing students to enter the legal field as competent, experienced professionals while fulfilling a crucial community service.
John Fairhurst, Principal and Chief Executive Officer at Bloomsbury Institute, commented on the collaboration: “This is an exciting development for all our students, and aligns with our purpose which is ‘to break down barriers together’. Our LLB (Hons) Law and Legal Practice has a distinct focus on the ‘application of knowledge’ and the development of employment skills to ensure our graduates are ready for graduate-level employment. Providing our students with this real-life practice-based experience will further augment this, and it will offer them with a great opportunity to engage with our local community to provide access to justice.”
Mehdi Mounsif, one of the Law Clinic’s Student Volunteers, commented on the collaboration: “I am just finishing my second year of the LLB. Throughout the LLB we gain practical experience by applying our academic legal knowledge to real-world legal problems. Through the Law Clinic, I will have the opportunity to deal with real clients with real legal problems, and at the same time I will gain a sense of pride by helping those who would not otherwise be able to have access to legal advice. My ambition after graduation is to qualify as a solicitor. The experience I gain in the Law Clinic will count towards the work experience that I will need to make this ambition a reality. So, for me, it’s a win-win situation.”
Daniel commented, “I am delighted to be partnering with Bloomsbury Institute in this new initiative. Bloomsbury will be one of the first Higher Education Providers to run a Law Clinic of this nature. I hope that the clinic will provide the students with invaluable practical experience and exposure of running a Personal Injury claim. It will also have the added benefit of providing the opportunity for members of the public to obtain free legal advice.”
