Court Of Appeal Hearing Concludes For Just Stop Oil Protestors
An appeal against prison sentences for Marcus Decker and Morgan Trowland, the Just Stop Oil protestors who scaled the Dartford crossing bridge, has today been dismissed in the Court of Appeal.
Laura O’Brien from Hodge Jones and Allen representing Mr Decker said: “We are shocked and saddened at the Court’s decision today. As the effects of the climate crisis increase in intensity so do the restrictions on the fundamental human right to protest. The UK was pivotal to the European Convention on Human Rights coming into being but is moving further and further from all that it stands for. We are considering our options going forward. Our thoughts at this time go to our client Marcus Decker and all those he is waiting to return to.”
