Retrial for former Barclays trader accused of Euribor rigging
Former Barclays trader Carlo Palombo is to be retried for attempting to manipulate Euribor – the Euro Interbank Offer Rate.
Speaking after a hearing today, financial crime solicitor John Hartley of London law firm Hodge Jones & Allen who represents 39-year-old Mr Palombo, said: “We are naturally disappointed that the Serious Fraud Office has sought a retrial in this case and that our client will have this matter hanging over him and his family for another year. However, we are confident that a retrial will finally provide the justice Mr Palombo deserves and he remains confident that he will be acquitted.”
Mr Palombo’s former colleagues Colin Bermingham and Sisse Bohart are also to be retried.
Former Barclays trader Philippe Moryoussef was found guilty of conspiracy to defraud on June 29.
Deutsche Bank trader Achim Kraemer was earlier found not guilty of the same offence and his colleague Christian Bittar pleaded guilty on 2 March.
Mr Palombo’s trial will open on 14th January, 2019 at Southwark Crown Court.
