Raj Chada secured the acquittal of a client accused of people trafficking
On 25 May 2018, Partner and Advocate, Raj Chada secured the acquittal of his client who had been accused of people trafficking.
The case, which was heard at Canterbury Crown Court for 8 days was in connection with an allegation of assisting illegal entry into the UK. The jury reached unanimous verdicts in respect of Mr Chada’s client after about 3 hours deliberation. Having forensically reviewed telephone evidence, the Defence showed how this corroborated our client’s account and undermind the prosecution’s case.
Expert evidence was also adduced in respect of the locking mechanism of the car that our client was driving. Such preparation and advocacy was essential in securing the acquittal of our client, who had been facing a 2 year prison sentence.
