Personal Injury Settlement for Burns Victim
Ken Brough, Partner in the Personal Injury team at Hodge Jones & Allen has recently settled a workplace accident on a site where our client had been instructed to burn waste. At the time of the incident a work colleague of our client was near to a bonfire and lit it without warning our client, causing the waste to suddenly ignite and cause him to suffer severe burns to his arms and legs. A manager was on site, at this time, but obviously failed to ensure correct health and safety procedures were followed.
Ken’s client was taken by air ambulance to his local Infirmary for treatment of his serious burns. Speaking about the outcome Ken Brough commented: “This incident could have been avoided if full health and safety procedures were in place, and followed, for this dangerous task. Whilst our client is physically and mentally scarred by the accident we were able to secure a significant level of damages. This will not rid him of his scars but will provide some compensation for this act of negligence in the workplace.”
