Prosecution Dropped Against Greenpeace Today
Hodge Jones & Allen acted for clients John Sauven, Greenpeace UK Executive Director and Greenpeace UK in relation to a prosecution by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) which arose following the Greenpeace campaign against the environmentally destructive fishing practice of ‘bottom trawling’ in sensitive and protected marine areas. The MMO had launched a private prosecution against the movement.
The firm is delighted that the prosecution was discontinued today at Newcastle Crown Court.
Mike Schwarz, Criminal Defence and Protest Law Solicitor acted for the defendants. Their barrister was Kirsty Brimelow QC from Doughty Street Chambers.
