About Simran Gupta
Simran joined Hodge Jones and Allen LLP in 2024 as a Paralegal in the Dispute Resolution Team. She has recently completed her master’s in law (LLM) from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
She is an Indian qualified lawyer since July 2021 and has more than 2 years of extensive work experience in India. She has actively represented clients, and independently instructed Senior Advocates (King’s Counsels) in various pending matters before different courts including The Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi and District courts and Tribunals. She also handled the day-to-day general corporate issues of her clients, while developing the ESG and environmental practice of her law firm as the ESG head.
She has been curious in undertaking and developing cross-border work. In particular, in June 2021, in line with the growing vision of her previous firm and her country India, she co-founded India Uzbekistan Investment Corridor (IUIC) and successfully on-boarded key stakeholders from both the countries including the Hon’ble Ambassadors of both the countries, law firms, educational institutions, CEO’s etc. As the Founding Director of IUIC, she organized various conferences, negotiated a historic MOU with Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL) for promoting joint educational opportunities and enabled a best friend relationship with a law firm in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Additionally, due to her deep passion and interest, she regularly co-authors articles and insight pieces for leading legal and media publications.
Notable Cases
- Simran represented a large Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in India in a high-stake environmental dispute pending before the Supreme Court of India involving 250 million pounds where she acted as the lead counsel from her previous firm and successfully resolved the dispute through her unique strategy and initiative.
- She assisted in the settlement negotiations for a client in a complex matrimonial cum corporate litigation before the Supreme Court Mediation Centre (SCMC), India. She independently drafted the settlement agreement and successfully resolved the dispute by repeated negotiations representing the Defendant Husband.
