National Eye Health Week – September 23rd to September 29th 2024

National Eye Health Week is an annual event in the UK dedicated to promoting the importance of good eye health.

This week sees opticians and other healthcare professionals and the public to raise awareness of preventable sight loss and steps to protect their vision and promote good eye health.

Whilst it is important to have regular eye tests to check your vision and the health of your eyes, it can also help detect other health issues that you may be experiencing but not aware of.

Sometimes you may through no fault of your own experience an injury to the eye and this can have a significant impact on your everyday life.

At Hodge Jones and Allen we represent clients who have been involved in accidents which have led to partial or full sight loss and injuries that involve blows to eyes.

I have represented clients who have had beauty treatment to the eyes and have suffered chemical injuries. I have also represented clients who have suffered injuries to the eyes as a result of accidents in the workplace or in public places including paintball activities.

If you have been involved in an accident and have suffered an eye injury as a result of an accident it is important to seek immediate medical attention. This may be at a hospital or booking an appointment to see an optometrist or ophthalmologist to seek advice and treatment.

When representing clients who have suffered an injury to the eye we will instruct an independent medico legal expert to prepare a report on the nature and extent of the injury and this in the first instance may involve instructing an ophthalmologist. A prognosis can then be given in relation to the extent of the injury and any recommendations for further treatment or investigations.

If you have suffered an injury as a result of someone else’s negligence and wish to consider legal advice, contact our Personal Injury Team on 0330 822 3451 and we can discuss how we can assist.
