APIL – Injury Prevention Week
The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) is a highly reputable, not for profit organisation that diligently campaigns for the rights of injured victims of negligence, making a real difference to the lives of injured people.
They campaign for access to justice, changing the law when necessary and access to charitable support.
APIL’s Injury Awareness Week will take place this year between 26 – 30 June 2023.
The theme this year is the prevalence of injuries and the impact they have on victims of negligence.
A YouGov survey commissioned by APIL has found that in the past 12 months, an estimated 1.6 million adults in the UK believe that they have become ill or been injured because of someone else’s negligence, which is an average of 30,000 injured victims of negligence each week affecting real people, often with life changing injuries.
APIL is seeking to raise awareness about the impact of negligence on the lives of injured people and their family and friends, as well as the importance of providing a strong support system to help them get their lives back on the right path where reasonably possible from a physical, emotional and financial perspective.
My colleagues and I have seen the long term impact of life changing injuries on our clients and their loved ones. Some clients will suffer permanent injuries needing long term treatment and care. Consequently their financial position can be compromised where clients do not have the benefit of full sick pay or income protection or life insurance. This can have a detrimental impact upon clients and impact their physical and mental wellbeing. The trauma of dealing with physical pain from injuries and the psychological impact may appear insurmountable for these vulnerable individuals.
The case process for injured clients, can last for a lengthy period of time which can be a daunting experience filled with anxiety and highs and lows along the way.
Our firm always strives to support our clients as well as their loved ones through their case journey and achieve the best possible outcome.
The APIL accreditation scheme also helps injured people identify specialist firms of solicitors who deal with personal injury claims and provide a quality service to their clients. Hodge Jones & Allen is an APIL accredited firm.
