About Nina Ali
Nina joined HJA in 2002. Formerly a qualified cardiology nurse, Nina converted to Law and is a partner in the medical negligence department. Nina has worked on several high profile cases, and is one of the two lawyers in the UK, who played a pivotal role in securing the statutory inquiry investigating mental health deaths in Essex (known as the Lampard Inquiry). Prior to the announcement of the statutory inquiry, Nina, along with her colleague Priya Singh supported 80 + families over a period of more than 4 years through health and safety executive investigations and represented them in associated legal proceedings including a significant Judicial review challenging the government’s decision to initiate the original ‘toothless’ inquiry. Read more about the Lampard Inquiry here. Nina is the RLR for over 120 + clients she is representing for the statutory Inquiry.
Nina’s expertise includes representing bereaved families at inquests and complex medical negligence cases valued up to 12 million pounds. Nina is known for her exemplary client care skills and is known to take on cases which are regarded as notoriously difficult and has achieved settlement for such cases.
Nina Ali was recognised as one of the top ten medical negligence lawyers in Business Today Magazine.
Nina is regarded as ‘one of the best in the field’ and was also recognised by Chambers UK as EDI Champion (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Champion). She is one of the nine lawyers who were recognised for their above and beyond contribution to equality, and their work with people who are in some way vulnerable, or have historically been mistreated.
Nina is recommended in Chambers UK and Legal 500 directories.
Nina Ali received a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Society of Asian Lawyers in December 2021.
