Winter Celebrations at The Children’s Trust
On 8th December, we were invited to Winter Illuminations event at The Children’s Trust. Both of us work with children clients with brain injury so the charity and its work is very close to our hearts.
On the day we headed from London to Tadworth where we were instantly transported into a winter wonderland. We were welcomed by the friendly staff and volunteers and explored the nearby food stalls. After having warm waffles and tea, we headed to the umbrella exhibition. Some of the children had painted and decorated umbrellas to show the things they love. They had painted trees, animals, and flowers which were a delight to explore. Activities like these are so important as it lets the children have sensory experiences while helping them practice their motor skills in a creative way. We then made our way to the main event area where the Tadworth Primary School Choir sang carols, and some of the talented staff endured the cold and played some more songs.
In the time between the music sessions, we walked around the market stalls. There were Christmas decorations, wraths, whipped soaps, and colourful art available for purchase, all courtesy of the children at the Trust. After completing our shopping, we headed to the marshmallow fire station where we kept warm while the final musical session was going.
Throughout the event, we got to speak to some of the incredible events staff who organised everything in under a month! They told us that the ideas for the event came from the children themselves. They had asked for colourful lights, candy canes, a giant Santa, S’mores, snow (there was both real snow and a snow machine so they got a double portion of this!), and hot chocolate.
We had the best time attending and supporting the amazing work The Children’s Trust does but our favourite part was seeing the children out and about being delighted to see their umbrella art on display.

They have also created an online Brain Injury Hub which is a resource for families and anyone who would like to know more about acquired brain injury in children.

Brain Injury Claims
When a child suffers a head or brain injury it is often difficult for the paediatricians to be clear about the effect of the injury and whether the child will fully recover. Our team specialises in getting early rehabilitation for our clients with brain injury to ensure they receive the best quality of life possible. Early rehabilitation may involve physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and even gym sessions. Other rehabilitation options such as music therapy, art therapy and hydrotherapy are also available. It is important to note that every injury is different as every individual is different so our treatment and recommendations are tailored to each client.
If you’ve suffered a life changing injury such as a brain injury as a result of an accident and are pursuing a Personal Injury claim, call our highly experienced Personal Injury team today on 0330 822 3451 to talk through your situation with us. Alternatively, you can request a call back online.
