Chambers UK Guide 2023 – Leading Solicitors Shine and Ranked Practice Areas Increase
Hodge Jones & Allen is delighted to announce 13 practice areas ranked and a whole host of individual solicitors recognised for their exceptional work. Our lawyers received fantastic feedback: “The quality of their lawyers, the work they generate and the way they handle cases are excellent.”, “They are excellent in all regards, and are extremely kind patient and helpful.”
The firm’s Police Law, Social Housing and Protest Law Teams all maintained their top tier status, and our Medical Negligence team rose to Band 2.
Our Environmental Justice team were ranked (Band 2) for the first time. Congratulations to Jocelyn Cockburn and her team.
Medical Negligence solicitors James Bell and Nina Ali both rose up in the rankings and Nina Ali has been listed as an EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) Champion.
Nina is one of nine lawyers included in this new listing of champions who are going above and beyond when it comes to their contribution to equality. Nina works with and supports groups of vulnerable people who have, or are being mistreated. Nina received excellent feedback: “She is a campaigning lawyer and is involved with families pushing for better mental healthcare; she is terrific with clients.”
Nancy Collins and Sasha Barton both Civil Liberties lawyers also saw their rankings rise, with Sasha now reaching the highest level of tier one.

We are also pleased to announce four newly ranked solicitors. Congratulations to:

This year, HJA’s solicitor received even greater recognition, with a two of our solicitors in the ‘Chambers spotlight’ for particular areas of work. They are:
- Alice Hardy, Partner and Civil Liberties Solicitor for her work on Inquests
- Nancy Collins, Partner and Civil Liberties Solicitor for her work on Public Inquiries
Last, and by no means least, Mike Schwarz, Criminal Defence and Protest Lawyer gained star ranking having received exceptional recommendations in his field of law.
