Witness Appeal For Employees At Two Swindon Schools – 1970s To 1990s

Our client worked as a teacher and now has mesothelioma, which is a type of lung cancer. Mesothelioma is usually caused by exposure to asbestos dust.

Our client worked at two schools in Swindon. During his career, we believe he was exposed to asbestos fibres as a result of asbestos materials having been used in the construction of the schools, for example in the roof, guttering, soffits and fascias, and via the materials within the schools themselves such as flooring, ceilings, toilets and partitioning.

Our client worked at:

  • Park School in the 1970s and 1980s. In addition to permanent school buildings, Park School also used “prefab” temporary classrooms, believed to have been built with asbestos materials.
  • New College in the 1980s and 1990s.

Lorna Webster, a Partner and an Asbestos Disease Solicitor who is acting in this case said:

“We would like to hear from other teachers and employees working at these two particular Swindon schools, over the same time as our client. It could help him achieve justice for the condition he has developed through no fault of his own. Sadly, asbestos diseases are still affecting many people who worked in a job they loved and yet find themselves affected by serious ill health due to exposure to asbestos which happened many decades ago. It is so important that we bring to account those employers who failed to protect their employees.”

“Information from witnesses who worked at these schools could be helpful for his case and we urge former employees of either school to come forward if they have information about asbestos materials in the schools.”

Lorna Webster has spent well over 20 years representing people affected by asbestos related diseases and fighting for the truth and justice for each of her clients. She handles claims for mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis and pleural thickening and they are often against former employers who have failed to protect their employees from exposure to asbestos.
