Murder charge dropped for client in New Year altercation on Park Lane
Hodge Jones & Allen are instructed in the defence of Adham El Shalakany at the Central Criminal Court.
Mr El Shalakany was arrested at home on 29 January 2019 and charged in connection with the murder of Tudor Siminiov on Park Lane on 1 January 2019. The charge was brought on a joint enterprise basis.
The Prosecution confirmed today in court that they will no longer proceed with the murder charge against him.
This result is testament to the robust approach which was taken on behalf of our client. We set out our defence at an early stage with a detailed prepared statement in interview.
There were also multiple early disclosure requests which triggered the service of key evidence, including footage from immediately after the altercation and ANPR data which showed our client’s movements.
With his evidence we were able to make representations to the Prosecution about the strength the evidence in the case which have led to the charges of murder and GBH being discontinued.
We will continue to represent Mr El Shalakany for the lesser charges of violent disorder.
Our client was granted bail by the judge today and his case is ongoing.
Hodge Jones & Allen solicitor Alex Chapman acts for Mr El Shalakany. David Rhodes of Doughty Street is instructed counsel and will continue the case on the issue of violent disorder.
