Hodge Jones & Allen has bolstered its public law expertise helping clients challenge government decisions with the appointment of a public law specialist Adam Tear.
Adam, who is a solicitor advocate able to represent clients in the higher courts in the UK, has joined as a partner to build the public law capability at the firm.
Public law is categorised as ‘the relationship between individuals and the government’ and includes legal actions like judicial reviews.
HJA continues to represent clients in a number of ground-breaking cases against the government, the addition of Adam strengthens the team enormously and will broaden the public law work done by the firm.
Adam, 40, joined HJA from Howe and Co, and litigates across a broad range of areas of public law and civil law disputes ranging from contempts, immigration, asylum and other challenges to government decisions via judicial review.
He said he is looking forward to helping clients stand up to the might of the government.
He said: “I enjoy being able to help people whose lives have been deeply affected by what the government has done.
“I feel that with the work HJA does I will be a good fit. I am looking forward to the great opportunities here.”
Adam, who qualified as a solicitor in 2004, said he originally wanted to be a car mechanic before changing his focus to the law.
“I originally wanted to become a car mechanic, but when that seemed insurmountable I did my A Levels and decided the law was for me.
“When I started studying law I knew it was what I wanted to do.”
